Integrum – Applied Human Physiology

Integrum's Foundation

The Foundation

Working in rehabilitation and wellness, while also experiencing both sides of healthcare as an athlete and as a patient, I found myself returning to the same questions time and time again:

Why do some people truly thrive, while others continue to struggle despite receiving care?

Why do healthcare experiences so often revolve around isolated symptoms rather than the person living with them?

Over the years, I noticed a recurring theme among friends, clients, patients, and athletes alike. Many felt that their healthcare experiences revolved around isolated symptoms, diagnoses, or injuries, while other equally important aspects of their lives, such as sleep, stress, movement habits, confidence, relationships, purpose, and daily routines often remained unexplored.

I believe our bodies do not operate in isolated compartments, and health and performance cannot be approached as disconnected systems:

Pain disrupts sleep.

Sleep drives recovery.
Recovery restores movement.
Movement builds capacity.
Capacity enables performance.
Performance supports confidence.
Confidence shapes behaviour.
Behaviour determines long-term health.

And long-term health enables us to thrive.

Real health emerges from the interaction of multiple systems working together. This perspective is what inspired Integrum.

Integrum was born from a growing realization that many people feel unheard within traditional healthcare models. Time and time again, clients have shared similar experiences: they often feel reduced to an injury, a painful shoulder, or a sore back, rather than as a whole person with unique goals, habits, beliefs, stresses, sleep patterns, and life circumstances. Meaningful and lasting change happens when we understand the whole person and combine that understanding with practical, active strategies that improve capacity, confidence, and performance.

The Founder’s Journey

I completed my studies in Physiotherapy at the University of Chile in 2017 before moving to New Zealand to further develop my understanding of human physiology and human performance. I later completed a Master of Science in Clinical Exercise Physiology at the University of Auckland in 2022, followed by a Certificate in Sleep Physiology. As a result, my professional journey spans rehabilitation sciences, exercise physiology, sleep physiology, and performance coaching, and I currently work as a Clinical Physiologist at Starship Children’s Hospital, a role I have held for more than 4 years.

My experience spans both public and private healthcare systems in Chile and New Zealand, where I have worked with people across every stage of life; from children to older adults, from recreational exercisers to competitive athletesincluding rock climbers, boxers, runners, rugby, tennis, football, handball, and netball players, dancers, and many more with both exercise and coaching sessions. Whether supporting someone recovering from a total knee or hip replacement, helping an individual regain confidence after chronic low back pain, or guiding an athlete back to peak performance, my focus has always been the same: supporting people regain the capacity to live the life they want and achieve a better quality of life.

Following my inner curiosity and a drive to improve scientific knowledge alongside my clinical practice, I have also contributed to scientific research with publications in exercise science, rehabilitation, low back pain, and neurology.

The Vision

Integrum’s vision is to bridge the gap between healthcare, fitness, education, and wellbeing by combining an evidence-based understanding of physiology with a movement and exercise-centred approach that empowers people to take an active role in their own health journey.

The aim is to provide a space where individuals feel listened to, understood, and empowered with the knowledge, tools, and confidence needed. Finally, to support them understand their bodies better, improve their health, reduce pain, enhance performance, sleep better, move more freely, or build sustainable habits that support long-term wellbeing.

Integrum [in-TEG-rum] derives from the Latin word meaning whole, complete, and untouched [ɩντɛɣρυμ]. It reflects the belief that every individual deserves care that acknowledges the full picture of who they are, not just the symptoms they present with. Whether the goal is to overcome pain, improve movement, enhance performance, sleep better or feel more capable and confident in everyday life.

People are complex, adaptable, and remarkably capable of change when given the right understanding, guidance, and support.

Because health is not simply the absence of pain.

It is the capacity to live, move, recover, adapt, perform, and ultimately, to thrive.

That is Integrum’s mission.
